            <title>Nurturing Families Network, Teen Parenting Education</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p> <span style="color:rgb(255,0,0);"><b>The Nurturing Families Network at Fair Haven Community Health Center is looking for Volunteers to work with our teen parents and their children!</b></span>  The Groups will run for 10 Consecutive weeks during the summer and the start on <b>JULY 1st</b>  They will be <b>every Wednesday night from 5:00-7:30 pm</b> at <b>Centro San Jose, 290 Grand Ave, New Haven CT.</b></p>

<p>FairHavenCommunityHealthCenter, Nurturing Families Network, is recruiting interested volunteers to work as infant and child caregivers.</p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><b>Volunteers will care for:</b></p>

<p> </p>
<p>Infants and young children (ages Birth to five).<span>  </span>The Nurturing Families Parenting Group Program provides weekly planned activities that teach parenting skills and provide a safe environment for children to socialize and learn at the same time.<span> Volunteers will provide support to the children's group facilitator while role modeling healthy caregiver/child interactions for parents. </span></p>

            <title>Volunteer at a Summer Camp for Kids with Chronic Illnesses</title>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Camp Carefree is a free summer camp in North Carolina that gives kids with chronic illnesses a chance to have the outdoorsy summer camp experience, including horseback riding, archery, fishing, swimming, etc.  The camp is operated on a not-for-profit basis, employs an all-volunteer staff, and is set on hundreds of acres of donated farmland outside of Greensboro.  There are week-long camp sessions for kids with Spina Bifida, Cancer, Epilepsy and other Neurological disorders, Hemophilia &amp; Turner Syndrome, Siblings of chronically ill children, and children of chronically ill parents.  Applying for this summer may still be possible, depending on your week of interest, and is definitely possible for next summer.  Please contact Adam Green (Adam.Green@Yale.edu) for information and applications.</p>]]></description>

</p><p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><b>Mission:</b> To start an NGO that will provide AIDS/HIV testing and counseling to rural villagers and direct them to treatment. To pursue an awareness initiative to statistically at-risk populations, specifically rural villagers in developing countries</font></font></p>
<p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><b>Who:</b> A volunteer force made up of college students passionate about public health seeking global public health experience</font></font></p>
<p><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><b>Where:</b> We aim to start in the rural village of Sunam, Punjab, India where field research has already been conducted by Sonia Gupta during the summer of 2008.<span>  </span>We hope to expand this throughout the villages of India and other developing nations.</font></font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span>            </span>A colorful and far from homogeneous group of Yale Alumni, their families and friends as well as current students gathered in Monterrey this week to contribute their time and knowledge to make a change in Monterrey.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>            </span>Our beautiful service trip started in a beautiful, one could say isolated, place out of the city of Monterrey. We were fortunate enough to enjoy the natural surroundings and the hospitality of the facilities of the <u>Chipinque National Park</u>, a beautiful mountainous area that overlooks the vast city of Monterrey. On Chipinque, there is a very convenient conference center that served as the setting of the service teams teambuilding. Several speeches were offered to set the setting of the trip mission and the expectations of the participants as well as a round of introductions by the participants that meant to be very insightful of the diversity and the humanitarian motives of the whole group.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><u>The speeches</u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>            </span>AYAs President, Mark Dollhopf, lead the orientation workshop and began by presenting the present of AYA. The Service Trip in 2008 in Dominican Republic being successful, gave rise to a new trip this year in Monterrey and gave more leeway to AYA and to Mark Dollhopf to envisage a new dimension of AYA and an alternative way of connecting alumni through philanthropy. Overall, according to Mr. Dollhopf AYAs new direction will be to connect alumni according their location, their vocation as well as their interests. Mr. Dollhopf made note of plans to connect the alumni of the 300+ Yale undergraduate organizations which have contributed through the years in the activities of the institution. Last year's tour to the Dominican Republic was a phenomenal experience- a truly unique collaboration between Yale and the world.
