Part of the series of events, Appalachia in Transition: Beyond MTR -- Fostering a Dialogue on Mountaintop Removal Mining
About the series:  Mountaintop Removal coal mining (MTR) is one of the most egregious environmental assaults happening in the United States, with disturbing social justice implications.  Yet few seem to know it is happening.   This event series aims to highlight the travesty of the current mining practices, educate about ways to get involved in the effort to address MTR, and to facilitate conversation about alternative economic drivers as the region begins a transition away from a coal-based economy.
