As Human Rights Firsts Director, Posner earned the organization a reputation for leadership in protecting refugees, advancing a rights-based approach to national security, challenging crimes against humanity, and fighting discrimination. In 2009, Posner was appointed Asst. Sec. of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.  Posner has been at the forefront of the international human rights movement for nearly 30 years, and as Asst. Sec. of State, he has advocated for the ICC and fought against torture.  Hosted by Development Month at Yale and the College Council for CARE.
